Interactive Learning Online is the Future

People learn better through interaction.  Have you ever tried learning something difficult from a book and sort of half feel you have “got it” and been really exhausted from reading, but then tried to teach what you have learned to someone else?  Its amazing, you find that the process of being interactive and teaching someone else actually consolidates in your mind what you have learned from the book and you really feel you have a better grasp of the subject.

People become more interested in a subject when they can become engaged with it over shorter periods of time.  Rather than having a long book to read, people want to be able to skip in and out of something that is easy to digest.  A video, an audio recording or a game is attractive to people and is often a great way to learn.

In the main, people are after knowledge about a subject within a subject, by that I mean they will use a particular resource but only really be interested in a certain part of that resource that addresses their specific problem or desperate need for information.

If you can put together information where the user can quickly and easily jump in, find what they are looking for, learn about it interactively, read it, watch it, listen to it, whatever and feel like they can come back for more similar information when they need it then you are on to a winner.

Brian Clark talks about creating a “community of learning” where users can gather knowledge in a virtual learning environment.  This is where online content is going.  The internet is going to become a fantastic resource for people who want high quality information gathered together in one place that can be used interactively.
