What’s In It For Me?
Whenever people read an advert, look at a sign, read a companies website or look at a press release, the main question in their mind is always “What’s in it for me?
The last thing people want to be told is whats great about the company who’s website you are reading. People don’t care about that, they want to know what benefits are they going to get out of using a product or service.
When you are writing product descriptions or websites it is important to put across to the reader the benefits they will get from using your product or service. Is there one main benefit that is better than your competition or at least different and makes you stand out? If there is then shout about it.
Let everyone know that if they use your product they will get this great benefit. If you have more than one benefit then list them, make everyone aware of them. Look at what you do, is there something your company does that is better or different from the rest of your competition? If there is then make sure you use that, it could be your greatest marketing weapon.
Companies often fail because they have not communicated to the most basic needs of a consumer. A person reading a website wants to know what they are going to get out of using a product and the business needs to tell them how they are going to benefit by using their service.
If a business has something that is better then it’s competition, is in someway unique and will benefit a consumer then the most important step is communicating this to prospective customers.
